MT-10
KNDS France · France · also known as Ixos · Updated
MT-10 is a rotary-wing loitering munition developed by KNDS France, part of the manufacturer's MATARIS family and intended to accompany armoured vehicles on close-protection, reconnaissance and beyond-line-of-sight engagement missions.
Overview
KNDS France presented the MT-10 at the Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition in Paris as the rotary-wing member of MATARIS, the manufacturer's loitering-munition range first launched at IDEX 2025. Janes reported at the time that the family included a co-axial design then referred to by the earlier name Ixos, which KNDS has since marketed as the MT-10. Unlike the quadcopter MX-10 DAMOCLES, the MT-10 is built around a folding, counter-rotating twin-rotor airframe and can be either tube-launched or flown as a conventional vertical take-off aircraft, giving vehicle crews the option to deploy it without exposing the launch platform.
KNDS's own June 2026 Eurosatory release states the MT-10 will be available from mid-2027, placing it behind the MX-10 in the MATARIS rollout. The company has not disclosed a customer or contract for the type as of that announcement.
Design and capabilities
KNDS's product specification lists the MT-10 at 3.8 kg with a 70 cm rotor span, using a folding counter-rotative bi-rotor architecture and electric propulsion. It can be deployed from a launch tube or take off vertically, and KNDS describes navigation as available in automatic, semi-automatic or full manual (first-person-view) modes. The aircraft carries the same 550-gram MW-FRAG explosive-incendiary warhead used across the MATARIS range, aimed at personnel and lightly protected vehicles, and KNDS lists a maximum range of 10 km with 30 minutes of endurance. The manufacturer describes a jam-resistant data link, real-time video to the operator up to the moment of impact, and the ability to navigate where GNSS signals are denied or degraded.
The MATARIS family is built with Delair, the Toulouse-based drone maker that supplies the airframe for the quadcopter MX-10, and with KNDS Ammo France, which supplies the munitions' warheads. KNDS has not stated which partner builds the MT-10 airframe specifically.
Operational history
As of the Eurosatory 2026 announcement, the MT-10 had no disclosed operator or fielding date beyond KNDS's stated mid-2027 availability. It has not been reported in service with the French armed forces or any other customer.
Variants
MT-10 was previously referred to by KNDS as Ixos before the manufacturer adopted the MATARIS naming scheme; Janes has noted that some KNDS materials write the name as "MT10" while the manufacturer's current product page uses "MT-10". It is one of four disclosed MATARIS products, alongside the quadcopter MX-10 DAMOCLES and the fixed-wing MV-25 OSKAR and MV-100 VELOCE 330, neither of which has a page on this site.
